Will dawn ever come again?
Day or night. Winter or summer. Rain... or no rain. I've always loved it in here. The nature that strokes me with warm breezes, filling me with a sense of security. The flakes of daylight that seem like a shy lover's kiss on the cheek. The rainbow colours dipped in the cherished mud.
I inhale the showers of pure light and smile. Finally, I am Home. I still enjoy sipping my delicious coffee at Khan El Khalili's, watching intimate faces pass me by. My mind is engraved with thousands of them.
A loud boom! At first, everyone at the cafe, hesitantly, looked at each other with questions on their lips. Another loud explosion followed. The earth shuddered beneath us, then everything turned black, and the ground was swept from under our feet. Shrieking with horror, we plunged into deep, featureless darkness.

I opened my eyes, I don't know after how long, to the full darkness of the ruins. I smelt blood and death. The place was shrouded in hollow silence before a creak of wood was heard. My heart hammered! In the pitch darkness I heard a fading breath next to me, then a sudden howl of pain. It wasn't mine. And yet, a stabbing pain shot through my side causing me to scream. I gasped for breath while tears welled in my eyes. I am buried alive!
Whispering prayers coming to my ears and the word "God " triggered a flood of memories. Images of loved ones filled my head, flowing like the blood that gushed out of my heart . I navigated through the memory, and only love I saw. I returned a little girl , time-confused, sitting in a boat on the Nile, smiling under the sun.
"We're here. We'll save you." The sound of rescue team hung like an echo strayed in the darkness that captivated us. And while all senses began to fade away, the feel of the warm sun on my face remained, drawing me on to where I belong.
